In this episode, we’re speaking with Reed Davis, Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) and Certified Nutritional Therapist (CNT), is an expert in functional lab testing and holistic lifestyle medicine, and Founder of Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN). Reed shares about how he got into the world of holistic health and functional testing, we cover what is functional lab testing – how it differs from conventional lab testing, and what you need to know before you go into the doctor’s office.

We look at the most common patterns that Reed sees with lab work and symptoms of gut issues, pathogens that may be related, and what makes someone a good host for them in the first place. We go over supporting gut issues naturally, top tests or assessments that you might want to look at if you suspect that you have gi pathogens, and how to address some of these top pathogenic issues naturally such as candida, fungal overgrowth, & biofilms.

Reed talks about the importance of looking at coaching down contributing factors of “metabolic chaos” that can lead to a lot of these issues. You’ll also hear Reed’s specific approach from the clinical side – looking at hormones first before getting tests and his perspective on SIBO after 12 years as a clinical advisor for labs and looking at a lot of SIBO tests.

You’re going to get a lot of insight related to the practical and clinical as well as zooming out and looking at the broader picture of the whole ecology of health that influences our gut health.

If you are a coach, nutritionist, practitioner or a clinician in any way who’s interested in functional diagnostic nutrition and lab testing, then I encourage you to check out Reed’s program and the link below.
